Additional comments about ARIA Discs effort to support broadcasting featuring athletes playing in the women's division:
ARIA Discs as a company has many goals, some independent and many overlapping. We are excited to support the work that Fulcrum Media is doing to help showcase and distribute high quality media that highlights some of the best players in the sport of ultimate. We are offering these "THE FUTURE IS FEMALE" printed discs to help raise momentum for, bring attention to, and financially support the efforts that Fulcrum brings to our sport, and to further support coverage for a division that has historically and traditionally been underreppresented in media.
The recent history of the phrase The Future Is Female starts with earlier versions of women's movements in the 1970s. These movements have grown and evolved over the years, but come down to the fact that while gender equity has come a long way, we as a society and world have a much longer way to go. These days, the slogan has been adopted by people of all genders, in some circles intentionally, and in some more generally, to support organizations from the 'women's marches' to fundraising for girls' education. In some cases, the phrase becomes over politicized and falls to easy criticism, but we hope that all people can choose, if they like, to let it be able to represent what they believe in and promote healthy conversations around the gender equity issues that affect women (people of all gender identifications, for that matter) both in and outside of the ultimate community.
We hope that as this disc flies across fields and gyms around the world, it can help promote conversations that give everyone a fair voice, and give people of all identities the chance to be heard, accepted, and respected for who they are. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at info@ariaultimate.com - we're excited to futher the discussion!
